I’m trying to watch the first season of the high fidelity series The Three Levels of Self-Awareness. Here’s hoping they find it a little easier to follow now that the episodes are available on demand on Hulu.
The TV series is a pretty solid adaptation of John Barnes’ 2009 book on the same name. It’s about a girl who is a super-genius and a genius, but is also an amnesiac. The main character is actually a superhero who became amnesiac and then was sent to the island to discover who did it. When he comes back, he finds himself in a world where people are constantly dying and he has no idea why.
The first episode, “The Black Reef,” is sort of funny in that you can’t tell if you are watching it with a friend or a co-worker. It’s a bit of a slow burn, but I thought it was well-executed.
The second episode, The World Within, is a bit more serious, but still funny, about the girl and a group of amnesiacs who have come to the island to find the source of all the deaths. They find out the cause of death is a virus that is actually a virus that has mutated, so they fight to find a cure.
The first episode starts off with an interesting idea about how the people on the island are different in the story. In the first episode, the only ones who aren’t wearing masks are the Visionaries and the girl. In the second episode, those three groups are still in masks, but as the episode progresses, we start to see them wearing gloves and the girl wearing earmuffs.
So I have to say, I haven’t seen the first episode, so I can’t say if the idea of the people on the island are different, but I do like the idea of the first episode. I would love to see it more as the story continues.
In the first episode, the only one who isnt wearing a mask is the girl. In the second episode, that’s changed all of a sudden, with the Visionaries wearing gloves and the girl not wearing any.
So yeah – I really want to see more of it – but I will admit, the first episode is really good, even though its really fast paced.
I’m very much enjoying the second episode. It is so much more intense than the first. The girl is really getting into the conflict and that is really cool. I think I like the idea of the story, and I like that there are no more “I”s in the story. I feel like it has more depth, and it is more interesting. The first episode was really fast paced, and to me that was the point.
The thing I love about this franchise is that it is really fast paced. The first season was really slow paced, and it was only really able to get to that point because of the story. The second season is fast paced because it is trying to prove its worth and show that it is not just a movie. It has to be a movie, or else it will be nothing more than a movie. I think it is really good.
