How to Improve Your Blog Post’s Readability

Your blog post should be easily readable and understandable. Here are some tips for tech blog ideas:

– Use short sentences; try not to string together more than 3 sentences without a period.

– Avoid long paragraphs, especially when the topic is complex. Break it down into smaller paragraphs with bold headings so readers can follow what you’re trying to say.

– Limit yourself to 150 words per paragraph; this will help your posts avoid looking like an essay or a thesis paper 

– Break up huge blocks of text with subheadings, images, videos, quotes etc. 

– Use bullet points to make the important points stand out and easier to read.

– Use italics and bolding (the <i> tag) to emphasize important words or phrases.

– When quoting someone else’s words, use block quotes. This will make the quote easier to read, instead of having it appear as one big run on a chunk of text.

– Make sure your post includes a clear introduction, body and conclusion. This will help your reader decide whether or not they want to continue reading.

– Use headings (the <h1> tag) and subheadings (the <h2> tag) to break up long posts into sections.

– Don’t write in ALL CAPS! It’s a big turnoff for readers, who will assume that you’re shouting at them especially if you do it when you’re stressed out.

– Don’t use multiple exclamation points or question marks, unless it is absolutely necessary. Readers may get tired of reading this type of marking. (ie, if you’re asking a question in the post, don’t use an exclamation mark at the end)

– Don’t cheat by using a program that automatically formats your blog posts. I’ve seen some programs that automatically format your templates for better readability. This is a big no-no. If you do this, you may be unknowingly formatting your post to look like a bulleted list. When the readers come across these posts, they will view it as being “broken” and will have a hard time understanding it.

– Be very careful not to overuse bolding because it can become difficult to see what you’re trying to say if you use too much of it.

– Ensure that your tags are properly sized (or don’t use tags at all). This will help readers find your post more easily on search engines.

– Don’t use HTML tags in your post title or post description. I’ve seen many blog posts with these two areas where the blogger thinks they are using bold or italics, but it’s actually an indirect link. You can’t see it, so readers won’t detect it.

– Don’t use too many links – just a few will do. There are some instances where you should link to other posts in your post if you’re going to make a reference to them, but otherwise, links can be very distracting for readers who have no interest in what you’re linking to.

– Don’t put your signature at the end of your post, as this will become difficult for readers to find and navigate through the text.
