In the year 2007, the state of California passed the “Free the People Act” which gave the state’s public universities and colleges the power to withhold funding from any movie that was deemed to have “sexually explicit or violent” content. The law was passed after the release of the documentary, “Falling Skies”, which was deemed to be’sexually violent’.
Not as sexy as Falling Skies was, though. Falling Skies was also a terrible film, and this new bill is bad for all of those behind it. The problem is that this law is not even remotely an actual law. It’s just an example of the absurd way that California has attempted to keep its citizens from enjoying their favorite movies.
Not to mention the fact that this law also includes a $1,000 fine for people who use a computer to watch films. But wait, what about illegal downloads? And how do you even decide if something is sexually explicit? This law is a ridiculous attempt to make movies more difficult to view.
The law is not a law at all. It’s an example of the absurd way that California has attempted to keep its citizens from enjoying their favorite movies. We have seen this law implemented in the past, including in the case of the film that inspired it, Twilight. But it’s only been in the past five years that anyone has actually caught the Governor of California trying to use the law to keep people from enjoying their favorite movies.
This isn’t the first time the governor has tried to pass legislation that would have made it impossible for people to see films that they enjoy. Back in 2005, it was a law that required that people under the age of thirty see all of the Twilight movies and any time after that, they were required to rent a DVD from a rental service. The problem was, this law was also enforced with the same rules as having to rent a DVD.
The problem was, even with the age restriction, the law was being used to target people that wanted to see Twilight, which is a huge demographic that the governor was targeting specifically. It turned out that the governor had an incredibly powerful law enforcement office, and that made the law even more ridiculous. The guy was using the law to target a demographic that had very little interest in Twilight, which is kind of what he was doing with netflix.
The governor’s law was a lot more than just targeting Twilight enthusiasts. It was a law that was being used all across America. Some people were even being prosecuted for it. As a result, the only thing that people were worried about was how they would use the law in their own lives. But that’s not the whole story of how it works. It turns out that the law was used to target people that wanted to watch Twilight. It’s also the same thing as renting a DVD.
This is a new law that lets people watch any movie you want, no matter if you liked it or not. The only thing that people have to do is be part of the group that can watch the movie. If you don’t like the movie, you aren’t allowed to watch it. This is not just a netflix thing. The same thing is happening to other content that people pay for.
The whole thing is really creepy and it could be a huge problem if it were to become a way of life. What if you were the governor of a country who was so paranoid of the fact that he tried to make sure that anyone who rented a certain movie would never be able to see it? This kind of thing would make it way more difficult to find and support a movie.
This is already happening, not just for movies, but for music too. A friend of mine had to pay $500 just to get to see the band, and she knew she could pay $500 more if she wanted to see the guy who owned the copyright. It’s not just movies though.
