I love this quote from a recent New York Times article by journalist and blogger, Lauren Duca: “If you don’t like hills, you really shouldn’t live there.” I love this quote because it reminds me that there is much that I still can achieve that is impossible in this world of skyscrapers and highways. I am not trying to replace your mountains. I am just making a statement without getting too morbid about my current location in life.
I am not saying that the hills of Silicon Valley are perfect. I mean, I love the hills of California, but even still, they can be so harsh and unforgiving. The hills of the Pacific Northwest and the hills of Oregon are far more forgiving. Both are gorgeous, but the Pacific Northwest is more forgiving of the elements in the winter because of the snow, while Oregon and California are typically warmer.
The hills of the Pacific Northwest are a bit less forgiving than the hills of California, but they are still beautiful. Here you get to see the Pacific Northwest in it’s natural splendor. We’re not talking the California beach town, there is also a bit of snow and ice here, but still, there is beauty here.
