I’ve always been a bit of a martial arts hater. I’m not sure why. I’ve never tried anything other than yoga (and I’m a little wary of yoga classes at the gym), but I’ve been intrigued by the idea of martial arts as a self-defense tool. So far, I’ve found it to be pretty effective.
In the martial arts world, there are many different types of martial arts. There are kickboxing, weight lifting, weight training, and a variety of different forms of self-defense. I think the most common type of martial art is called taekwondo. Its good to know that there are many martial arts techniques that can help you protect yourself. I’m definitely guilty of having been injured by a kick, punch, or something else from someone I am not training. I’m also very aware of some techniques where it is likely I am not even using them to my best advantage.

The key to being “good” at martial arts is to start with the fundamentals and work your way up. You’re not going to be a “good” fighter if you fail at your fundamentals.
